Ugly and Popular

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Recently I’ve come to a realization: A web site doesn’t have to have to have a slick Web 2.0ish look to be popular.
Just look at some of the most popular web sites:

Craigslist
Wikipedia
Google
PlentyOfFish
MySpace
Orkut

All of those websites have a very down-to-earth or in some cases downright clumsy design. But it doesn’t matter, I think the […]

Delphi Effect

Friday, May 11th, 2007

The Delphi effect is described by Eric S Raymond in his book, "The Cathedral and the Bazaar" as follows:
"Sociologists discovered that the averaged opinion of a mass of equally expert or equally ignorant observers is quite a bit more reliable a predictor than the opinion of a single randomly-chosen one of the […]

Silverlight integrates with existing Web applications and, of course, almost all Web technologies you are already using like ASP.NET AJAX and/or ASP.NET in common.

More information can be found on their official site - http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/

Pros: Supports .NET 1.x, 2.0 and 3.0 framework. Good for running basic ASP.NET applications.
Cons: Very very […]

Joost

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

I finally got invited to beta test Joost. I’ve been playin’ around with it since a few days. I even watched a 1hr documentary on it. The quality and sound was very good, way better than YouTube or any other web based players. I also loved the UI; very very slick! Well anyway instead of saying more, here are some screen shots! Enjoy!
